Call for Social Studies Books for Kids

Description: Teacher Created Materials is seeking submissions for new lines of high-interest picture books and early chapter books aligned with social studies topics. These should be fun read-aloud titles written to inspire a love of learning, not necessarily written to teach content.

Books of particular interest: 

• Historical fiction (realistic or with elements of fantasy)
• Underrepresented voices and stories
• Stories based on oral history passed down in your own family

Interest Level: Ages 4-8, 6-9, or 8-12 

Who should submit? We encourage submissions from authors with a love for social studies and historical topics.

Potential subjects (relevant for grades K-5): 

• History
• Civics
• Economics
• Geography

We want to honor and uplift your voice and expertise! Everything named in our guidelines is intended to provide ideas for our authors; and is not required. We encourage authors to think outside of the box and write the book that’s in your heart. We want to hear your voice and ideas. 

To be considered, you must submit a complete manuscript and proposal.
